It is a very difficult time for anyone when their best friend passes on to the rainbow bridge, this page is dedicated to all those beautiful hounds who wait patiently for you to join them.
We found great comfort in Wendy Tugby's books and if you have lost a much loved pet you should read them

Just this side of Heaven
is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.
When a hound dies that has been especially close to someone here, that dog goes
to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they run and play
together.
There is plenty of food and water and sunshine and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the hounds that are old or ill are restored to health and vigour.
Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,
just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The hounds are happy and content,
except for one small thing -
they each miss someone special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance.
The bright eyes are intent, the eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass,
his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted and when you and
your special friend finally meet,
you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face,
your hands again caress the beloved head
and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your hound,
so long gone from your life,
but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together ....
never again to part.

November 2008
For Conor: Gentle Giant
from
Lynel and Michael Hayes from Lincolnshire, England
If I had known, when I awoke this day,
I’d hold you fast against me oh so tight
To take you from me
Just
one more time I’d gaze upon your face
Before
you left me
If
I had known when first I rose this morn
I’d
take you places you had never been
And
share such joys with you
I
wouldn’t, still, one blessed moment spend
My
precious time with you
If
I had known before this day was done
But
cold the rays of moonlight round me shone
So
far away from me
I
did not know. How could
I......feeble man
The
day, the hour, that from me you would go
Upon
your mortal form
Nor
did I know how sore my heart would break
Eternity,
to yet have one more day
Together
as before
For
now I know that with me as before
That
on death’s final journey you must go
The
path you walk alone
And
this I know that if by mercy’s grace
And
walk this road beside you as before
Not
one thing would I change
And
this I know

Yesterday I ran like
the wind
Today I was happy and free
But my body was old
My eyes grew dim
So I said my goodbyes
And went to be with 'Him'
I held on to life for so long
They say I was brave
But how else would the
King of the Wolfhounds behave?
Please don't shed a tear
And don't even cry because
I am resting here where I lie
But when you come to be with me
We'll race like the wind
You'll call my name and
hug me and say
I am the King of the Wolfhounds
Forever to be!
